Genres within the genre of abstract?
Q. For my photography project, I need to research a little about types of abstract. For example, I've heard of minimal. Basically what I'm asking is, what art genres are abstract?

A. I don't know what century scotinthemist is living in, but abstract effects have long been used in photography. Granted they are mostly applied in post production using photoshop or darkroom techniques. Pointillism, fauvism and posterization are easily achieved with a simple filter. Camera movements can be used to alter perspective. Detail, texture and contrast can be controlled by use of different film and development combinations, or HDRi techniques. Cross processing or editing curves can produce unreal colour effects, and multiple shots can be combined to produce surreal images. A. I am not 100% positive on this, but I believe that it may be a variety of psychedelic art. Psychedelic art was a part of sixtie's counterculture. Here are some common aspects of psychedelic art: * Fantastic, metaphysical and surrealistic subject matter * Kaleidoscopic, fractal or paisley patterns * Bright and/or highly contrasting colors * Extreme depth of detail or stylization of detail. * Morphing of objects and/or themes and sometimes collage * Inclusion of phosphenes and other entoptic motifs * Repetition of motifs * Innovative typography and hand-lettering, including warping and transposition of positive and negative spaces I believe that the picture you provided fits with most of the common aspects.
